Frisbees a Flyin'

In lieu of the upcoming Summer Olympics, Lily has been training rigorously to perfect her flying frisbee catch. I'm not sure if "frisbee" is really an Olympic sport, but if it ever is, the U.S. will have it's first furry athlete! Beijing better hide its cashew chicken before this competitor arrives! And she sticks the landing, Ladies and Gentleman, that technique deserves a 10!!

"Hey, run your horses across the river and I'll take your picture," photographer says.
"Ok!" We says.

JibJab Strikes Again!

Finally, JibJab releases their take on the 2008 presidential campaign! For those of you who do not know, JibJab is a site devoted mostly to political humor, making light of our nation's current events, and other topics that desperately need a cynical eye. I recommend the JibJab "Originals"--especially This Land, The Year 2008, Big Box Mart, The Year 2007, and What We Call the News. Here's the link: www.jibjab.com

Enjoy the lovely voices of the 2008 presidential candidates!

4th of July Weekend

Nothing says, "God Bless America" like a good ole' fashioned trail ride, Billy Currington, and lots of drunk cowboys. The Moriuchi-billys saddled up and high tailed it to one of the biggest trail rides in the country, Eminence, MO. Though the town is small, they are very horse-friendly since their main source of revenue comes from the thousands of "weekend cowboys and girls" who come to ride the trails by day and party by night.
Cross Country Trail Ride is a 75-acre horse campground with 3,000 horse stalls where people from all trots of life come to have fun with their horses. You can ride, you can float, you can eat all day, and you can drink all night (repeat for four days). It's All-Inclusive Redneck Style!
The trail ride also hosted a Billy Currington concert, a horse competition, and a grand display of fireworks. What redneck could ask for more?
More you ask?? Of course! We also caught a game of Donkey Baseball. The two candidates running for local sheriff sponsored two teams who competed on "donk-back," but few actually made it on the back of the donkeys. Kung fu action kicks were a flyin' as runners desperately tried to mount their stubborn steed and run the bases.

During halftime, I participated in a game of Donkey Musical Chairs--apparently a FULL CONTACT SPORT in Eminence, MO. Once the music stops, you scramble to get on top of a donkey, but all's fair in love and war. Girls were pushing, shoving, yanking, and doing whatever they could to get on a donkey. I'm the one with the ass in the picture (pun intended, sorry)
And what's a weekend horse excursion without my horse, Bandit, having a brush with death? No matter where we go or what we do, Bandit will inevitably feign a life-threatening condition. If it's not colic, it's a bone fracture, or a gash that requires stitches . . .and his latest feat, tying up! Bandit overheated on the trail the first day out and his back muscles literally "tied up." (Sort of like going into shock from overwork and under-hydration) But you know that old saying, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't . . .," you know how it goes. Anyways, the saying should really be, "You can lead a horse to water OR you can just pump 5,000 mL of fluids in him with a 5-inch IV catheter and a $125 vet bill!" Yes, that definitely sounds more catchy. Needless to say, we did everything short of drowning the poor horse during the days after to make sure he stayed hydrated. That's right, Bandit, drink your water like a good boy.

But a good time was had by all and we look forward to riding off into the sunset next year at the Cross Country Trail Ride.
